Overview

Dekmantel Festival is an electronic music festival featuring a large line-up of cutting-edge artists, organized by the Amsterdam-based record label and event organizing company Dekmantel. The festival is known for its honest approach to underground music and has been active as a label since 2009 with more than 70 releases.

The event takes place at one of the most stunning natural surroundings that Amsterdam has to offer. The lush forests and grassy meadows of the Amsterdamse Bos will be the setting for the monumental event. The forest is three times bigger than Central Park in New York, which allows Dekmantel to go all out each edition. People who visit many festivals in the Netherlands might be familiar with the location, which has also been used by festivals such as the 909 Festival.

The festival unfolds over several days, combining outdoor stages at Amsterdamse Bos with club nights at renowned venues around the city. The site features rolling meadows and tree-lined paths that create a natural stage for music, with multiple main stages spread across the greenery. Festivalgoers make the pilgrimage to the site by bike, kicking up mud and rain as they arrive at Amsterdamse Bos. Beneath a towering radio mast, thousands of partygoers buzz between the stages, divided by genre but united by boundary-pushing frontiers in electronic music.

What Makes This Event Special

Underground Credibility: Dekmantel operates independently and is transparent and committed to maintaining an ethical approach. The festival is driven by a deep love for music and a commitment to creating lasting experiences for visitors and artists, supporting and safeguarding the future of its global community.

Forest Setting: The Amsterdamse Bos location offers lush forests, grassy meadows, and a massive park south of Amsterdam’s city center. Its rolling meadows create a natural stage where sound carries through trees and meadows, providing shade and shelter unlike urban concrete festivals.

Intimate Scale with Global Reach: The festival has limited capacity to preserve intimacy. Early editions limited tickets to 5000 per day, and later editions capped at 10,000 guests with room for twice that many more, striking a balance between crowd and venue while still attracting worldwide audience.

Multi-Location Format: The twelfth edition takes place across multiple locations in Amsterdam, spanning the green festival grounds of Amsterdamse Bos and inner-city venues including Oude Kerk, Melkweg, and Paradiso, plus night venues RADION, Garage Noord, ISO and RAUM.

Selectors Concept: The festival’s focus on risk-taking sets and experimental beats, with seclusion of Selectors and Greenhouse stages, ferocity of UFO stages, and deep listening at The Zone and RADAR, creates distinct sonic worlds within one forest.

Dawn Program: A unique Dekmantel at Dawn program unfolds in mornings at Amsterdamse Bos between 11:00 and 14:00, where Selectors, Greenhouse and RADAR stages open exclusively for weekend ticket holders as an intimate, tree-canopied playground for sonic exploration on dew-kissed dance floors.

Lineup / Featured Artists

Dekmantel Festival focuses 100 percent on cutting-edge electronic music with lineups alternating big names with new discoveries from house, techno, electro, breakbeat and experimental.

Typical Headliner Profile: Past editions have featured luminaries like Honey Dijon, Eris Drew, Yaeji, Objekt, Palms Trax, Job Jobse, Vtss, Jeff Mills, Héctor, Young Marco, Lena Wilikens, Space Afrika, Darkside, Headache, Juan Atkins pres. INFINITI, STOOR Live, Speedy J, Barker, Surusinghe, Moktar, and many emerging acts with whom the festival aims to build and grow together from debut set to closing act.

Opening Concerts: The program begins at Oude Kerk with live concerts, such as Space Afrika opening, followed by Dekmantel Into The City program on Wednesday and Thursday focusing on electronic live performances across multiple Amsterdam venues. From opening concert at Oude Kerk to Darkside, Headache and Juan Atkins at Melkweg, along with STOOR Live, Speedy J and Barker at Paradiso, the city program sets the tone.

City and Forest Stages: The festival’s focal point from Friday to Sunday includes wide variety of stages including Main Stage freedom, seclusion of Selectors and Greenhouse, ferocity of UFO stages, and deep listening at The Zone and RADAR. Eight stages spread across extensive forest, uniting artists from various parts of world focusing on Europe covering various musical genres.

Local Artists: One of the main pillars in festival programme is presence of emerging acts and local Amsterdam artists who put Dekmantel at forefront of electronic music, building long-term relationships.

After Hours: Dekmantel announces after hours lineups in Amsterdam clubs Shelter and RADION, where DJs playing day festival host intimate locations for those who want to enjoy weekend longer.

Event Experience

The event experience begins in inner-city venues before moving to forest. Attendees first gather in historic Oude Kerk for opening concert, then move to Melkweg and Paradiso for Into The City nights. This urban phase allows for seated listening, live electronic performances, and club atmosphere.

Once in Amsterdamse Bos, the experience shifts to nature. The festival is easily accessible by bike from Amsterdam and surrounding areas, with scenic bike ride through Amsterdamse Bos. This is also the most sustainable option. Biking from Amsterdam Central Station takes approximately 45 minutes, and from Amsterdam Zuid takes approximately 20 minutes.

Inside the forest, festivalgoers navigate between stages by tree-lined paths. Selectors stage offers intimate, shaded dancing, Greenhouse provides secluded vibes, UFO delivers ferocious techno, while Main Stage offers freedom and open meadow views. The Zone focuses on deep listening. Dekmantel at Dawn offers exclusive morning access for weekend holders, creating dew-kissed dance floors under canopy.

Night program venues RADION, Garage Noord, ISO and RAUM host extended sets until late. Shuttle buses depart from Amstel Station, stop A1 on bus platform, with travel time approximately 15 to 20 minutes, driving back and forth from 10:30 to 00:30.

The crowd is dedicated and knowledgeable, often dancing in rain and mud, appreciating long, risk-taking sets. Euro Wine Bar returns offering seated meal in restaurant setting with friends, alongside vegetarian food and drinks.
