Overview

Dynamo Metalfest is a metalfestival in Eindhoven, Nederland held at the spiritual home of heavy metal festivals, Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The brand new festival is a back to basics, one day event highlighting the best of homegrown and international heavy metal. We want to have a line up which has room for the established names as well as for the new bands on the rise, says Tjerk Maas, promoter of Dynamo Metalfest.

The festival is the successor to Dynamo Open Air, which was held almost every year between 1986 and 2005 and was reborn in 2008 as Dynamo Outdoor and in 2015 as Dynamo Metal Fest. The current format takes place at IJssportcentrum, Eindhoven, Anton Coolenlaan 3, Eindhoven, 5644 RX Netherlands. The venue is a semi-covered ice rink turned into metal festival site. The festival has grown from one day to two days and now three days, with 33 bands on affiche for anniversary editions.

What Makes This Event Special

Legacy of Dynamo Open Air: Venue is IJssportcentrum Eindhoven, spiritual home of heavy metal festivals. Former names Dynamo Open Air 1986-2005, Dynamo Outdoor 2008-2010. Legendary editions featured Metallica, System of a Down, Mercyful Fate, Fear Factory and many others.

Back to basics ethos: The brand new festival will be a back to basics, one day event highlighting the best of homegrown and international heavy metal. We want to see young as well as older metal fans at Dynamo Metalfest.

Affordable and accessible: In order to make festival accessible to as many people as possible, tickets are just €15 in early editions. Even recent editions start at €159 for weekend, maintaining affordable pricing for metal fans.

Anniversary special sets: Inspired by milestones, Fear Factory performed special Dynamo 1995 set revisiting setlist from three decades ago. Special sets like Cavalera Chaos A.D. and others make each edition unique.

Three-day growth: From one day to three days, with 33 bands on affiche for 10th anniversary. Date in August, perfect summer metal weekend.

Community: Dynamo Metalfest Pre-party at Catharinaplein 21, 5611 DE Eindhoven, plus events at Dynamo Rock and Metal Cafe, creating city-wide metal takeover.

• Saturday August 14: Full day from 12:00 to 23:00, with Hypocrisy 15:20-16:05 Mainstage and other acts across two stages.

By bike: From Eindhoven center, 15 minutes bike to Genneper Parken area via bike paths.

By car: Near A2 and A67 motorways, exit Eindhoven Waalre. Parking at IJssportcentrum and Genneper Parken. Use P+R Genneper Parken.

By foot: About 40 minutes walk from city center.
